A four mile long off-road bike path alongside the Bolinas Lagoon near Highway
One is possible, but only when the Marin County Bicycle Coalition supports it.
Now bicyclists jeopardize their lives riding on Highway One at the lagoon where
the road is narrow and has little to no shoulder space. However when a new
multi-use-path (MUP) is built bicyclists and hikers will be able to enjoy a
world-class ride. Connect it to a Mt. Tam road and it makes a 16 mile loop trip
possible.
Though Marin County Open Space District had a plan to dredge the Bolinas Lagoon at a cost of $30M, but then filed it away, at the very least the public access issue along the lagoon regarding its safety and non-motorized transportation needs to be brought back for public discussion now. Unbelievable, but true this has never happened! So, please petition the Marin County OSD to hold these meeting in both East and West Marin.
